How Plastics Are Dangerous To The Environment

  • Vijayshree Gowda

The environment is very essential to every living organism. It plays a major role in everyone’s life. We all on it for water, food, air, etc. Therefore, we must protect our environment from every kind of pollution. But, instead of protecting our environment, we’ve created a lot of pollution, especially plastic pollution, that is negatively affecting our environment.

Plastic waste is very harmful because it doesn’t only harm the environment but, also the birds and other wildlife. Plastic is made up of petroleum oil and it is non-renewable that pollutes our air. Plastic bottles are made up of PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) that photo degrades and takes at least more than 400 years to decompose. It creates a problem for aquatic plants and animals too.

We should understand that it is polluting our planet at a high rate and we should stop/ban plastic from at least our side for the well-being of the planet, from being landfill and for the well-being of every wildlife. Instead of using plastic bags or plastic bottles, we should use reusable water bottles and reusable bags.
By using this toxic plastic, we are not only land-filling the planet but, also putting other’s lives in danger. The plastics that we throw outside land-filling for sure, but the animals who eat it has no idea that the plastic they’ve eaten could affect their system and would lead them to death.

Plastics have many disadvantages but, we’re fond of using them in our day-to-day life. It takes more than 20 gallons of water to make one pound of plastic i.e., it takes twice the amount of water to produce a bottle as the amount of water in the actual bottle.

By reducing plastic, we can’t able to remove the plastic from the planet completely but, at least we can able to reduce the problems that are affecting the environment. We can avoid plastics from our daily life basis like, avoiding plastic straws, by using reusable bags and bottles, we should go to the stores that use paper or, other renewable sources, stocking foods in storing jars and glass containers instead of using plastics, stop buying chewing gums, etc.

By these methods and so, we can able to fond of using renewable and biodegradable sources for our daily life rather than being fond of using plastics. Let’s make this planet a plastic-free planet together. Let’s stop/ban using plastics
